The name THE ROCKS is not without meaning. It reflects our mission that God has given us:
"We exist to REACH people to experience The Love of God, so together we may OFFER Him our lives as our worship, CARE for one another as family, KNOW God through His Word, and SERVE Him for His Glory."
REACH — Evangelism
We really believe that good stuff must be shared with other people. The love of and forgiveness from Jesus for sinners is more than just good stuff, it is the best news anyone could hear; it is life-changing, and it affects anyone eternal destiny. So THE ROCKS encourage all who have experienced this love and joy of knowing God to share it to as many people as possible. We are not a “holy crowd” but our focus is to reach out to others with the love of Jesus.
OFFER — Worship
Everything is created for a purpose; a car is created to be driven, a TV to be watched, etc. In the same way, God created us for a purpose and that purpose is that we enjoy our relationship with Him as we worship Him as our creator. At THE ROCKS we work hard to provide inspiring and uplifting music to help you worship God. But we emphasize that worship is not just when we go to church but everything that we do. THE ROCKS is here to equip you and encourage you to live your life with and for God, not just on Sundays, but every day. Our lives will be so much more fun, peaceful, and meaningful as we learn to involve God in every aspect of our lives.
CARE — Fellowship
Someone once said that “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Here at THE ROCKS we strive to show whoever comes through our door that we really do care. We realize that life is full of ups and downs and we want to provide a safe, loving environment where we could share the joys and the sorrows of this life together.
KNOW — Discipleship
There’s a well-known Indonesian saying “Tak Kenal maka tak sayang” meaning “If you don’t know, you don’t love.” God has revealed himself to us through his word, the BIBLE. The more we know about God our creator, the more we realize how much He loves us and the more we will love him. So at THE ROCKS we want to be a church that really knows God. We do this through preaching that is based on the Bible, not human wisdom, and through THE ROCKS Cell groups.
SERVE — Ministry
We believe that the Holy Spirit has equipped us and empower us to serve God in different kind of capacities whether it is praying, stacking chairs, vacuuming the floor, or playing musical instruments. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but we are careful to make sure that our focus is not for ourselves but to reach out to others.
